Space Time
Web 2.0 is quickly changing into 3D visual – web 3.0 – with the semantic web and natural language processing coming together in visual networks and relationships. There’ll be massive changes ahead!
Photo Dropper
This is a WordPress plugin that allows you to search across Flickr for the type of license needed, which means your search can target creative commons photos.

Amplifying Possibilities
My view is that professional development is not limited by (or to) a school district’s list of workshops. Each individual is a freelance educator, responsible for building their own learning and skill set. Attach yourself to the global educator community as a learner, as a participant, and as a mentor.
TH 5/8/08 post from bookmark4life pointed to this conference:
http://k12onlineconference.org/
“The K-12 Online Conference invites participation from educators around the world interested in innovative ways Web 2.0 tools and technologies can be used to improve learning. This FREE conference is run by volunteers and open to everyone. The 2008 conference theme is “Amplifying Possibilities”. This year’s conference begins with a pre-conference keynote the week of October 13, 2008. The following two weeks, October 20-24 and October 27-31, forty presentations will be posted online to the conference blog (this website) for participants to download and view. Live Events in the form of three “Fireside Chats” and a culminating “When Night Falls” event will be announced. Everyone is encouraged to participate in both live events during the conference as well as asynchronous conversations.”
Revisited
Things are getting wilder by the moment: meta-psychology comes to mind.
Okay, omnisio (slide & video presentations side-by-side) Jeff Bezos on Animoto and if you look closely at the spike in users on his graph you’ll see a point that belongs to my sign-on at Animoto during April, I’m sure. It is a great behind-the-scenes glimpse of Animoto’s operations.
Just came across this use of Animoto to reinforce vocabulary.
Lynne Horn’s “Using Animoto to Revise Time” [French class].
The Professional Learning Board’s Toolbar has been helpful – I’m keeping it. Love the updates.
Britannica is still on my bad side for not being upfront that their search tool generates revenue from Google – a tool that can be DIY by users for their own non-profit organization’s benefit.
Digital Citizenship
A belief from the AASL’s 21st Century Learner Standards is:
“Ethical behavior in the use of information must be taught.”
Check this Georgia teacher’s blog to see the belief turned into action…Vicki A. Davis’ The Cool Cat Teacher for May 15, 2008. Also, notice the tech techniques she inserts into her blog.
Additional resources are posted at Start Ups.
Upcoming
Ebsco provides some of the subscription databases available through the Galileo website. Check out their upcoming redesign in this flash demo. Lots of interactive Web 2.0 features!
You’re invited to nudge the students over to ahsinfo.wikispaces.com and ahsinfo.edublogs.org.
Upcoming events, special days, and class wikis are posted to the Welcome-About Us page of the wikispaces site and frequent posts at edublogs showcases current information.
Next school year, think about having your students join the school wiki and edublog sites as contributors. Current events, best practices, coverage of a special topic or links to great resources are just some of the input that would be improved by collective voices.
Interaction is part of the collaborative Web 2.0 experience and a vital skill set for a 21st Century Learner.
Newbies
Your comments are needed to build pages of relevant resources – become a part of that feel-good Web 2.0 sharing, networking, community vibe!
Just added a new page: Low/No Tech
It is intended as a bit of support for your effort to leap over obstacles.
Simply FYI: For those who wonder what I’m up to next – beta and try outs are tracked on my “life as learner” blog @ http://cmillswms.wordpress.com/try-outs/
Actual tests that need to be posted are handled on a separate site so that I don’t muck up content.

Each person may have their own wikispaces, voicethread and/or edublogs for free. Contributors are able to provide a link to showcase work on their website, or join a conversation at one of the ahsinfo pages by posting to the discussion tab or comments.
Offers
Still paddling hard, yet floating downstream…additional applications seem to propagate faster than rabbits!
A new page – “Start Ups” – has been added to act as a gathering spot for information that helps launch classroom applications.
Sample Start Ups:
Check out Animoto’s educator code offer.

Thank you to everyone who checked out VoiceThread after school last week! Feedback about our experiences will be sent to Steve at VoiceThread. (For example: A nice set of instructions in one spot for teachers is needed.)
Move to the Training Notes page to the VoiceThread post. Please consider the notes a work-in-progress for residual questions and updates.
Help others by adding your comments, tips and suggestions to pages; your input is needed to build this site as a collaborative exchange.
